We are Jesus people, and we are real people- here's a little bit about who we are...
Adam grew up in church, and his faith has provided a strong foundation throughout the different phases of his life. His faith was tested in 2004 as he lived through the devastating effects of a heart attack on his dad. The brain injury his dad suffered as a result of the heart attack was debilitating, and Adam and his family had to rely on God more than ever as they made difficult decisions regarding his care.
Adam met his wife Alyssa in 2005 while he was serving as the Music Director at Concordia Lutheran Church in San Antonio, and they were married a year later. Though Alyssa also grew up going to church, she walked away from her faith at a young age and lived through middle school, high school, college, grad school, and much of her adult life as an atheist. She rekindled her relationship with Jesus after meeting Adam and continues to offer the perspective of the "de-churched" and the "nones."
Alyssa embraced ministry life with Adam when they both accepted positions at River Pointe Church, a non-denominational church with 3 campuses in the Houston area. As Adam became the Music Director, Alyssa took on the role of Executive Director of Early Childhood. They thrived in this diverse community and enjoyed being part of the church's rapid growth.
When Adam and Alyssa decided it was time to grow their family in 2009, they soon came to realize God had another plan. After a long journey with infertility and exploring multiple avenues to adoption, Adam and Alyssa said "yes" to God's plan for them to foster in 2013. Trusting God through the process took their faith to a new level of depth. After over a year, they adopted their son and daughter!
With two small children joining their family, the couple decided to return to San Antonio. There Adam took the position of Director of Worship Arts back at Concordia, and Alyssa took on a part-time position starting the church's Family Ministry. The part-time position allowed her to be home more with the children, which worked out well when they were faced with a very surprise pregnancy! Alyssa gave birth to their third child in 2016.
The pressures of balancing ministry and home life, along with managing his father's decline were challenging for Adam. He has shared openly over the years about his struggle with anxiety, trusting that God would not waste his pain. God, of course, has demonstrated His faithfulness again and again. Adam continues to be transparent about how God is working in his life through Alcoholics Anonymous, and he has seen God's goodness in every aspect of his life, personally and professionally.
We are excited to see how God is working in your setting as well! Whether it is music, hospitality, production, budgeting dollars for the arts, embracing tradition, or slowly turning the tides, Countryman Consulting can help you achieve your goals in ministry, performance, or planning and execution of a special event.
